Desanders are what larger diameter hydrocyclones are commonly called, and will be the next step in solids removal after an initial scalping shaker pass. Desanders are capable of handling large flow rates, up to 500 gpm per cone, at a cut point of 75µm (micron). The underflow will be recirculated over a shaker, to dry and remove solids while passing the liquid portion through the shaker to be processed again. The overflow, or “effluent”, will be free to move on to the next stage, typically a desilter.
